MOTIVATORS
Maternal Mortality Risk and Male Involvement Project (MMRMI)
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a nonprofit organization that creates and evaluates solutions to social and developmental problems, and works to scale up successful ideas through implementation and dissemination to policymakers, practitioners, investors, and donors.
The MMRMI research project is looking for qualified individuals to work as motivators, to lead community meetings in urban compound areas in Lusaka. We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic and deeply motivated individuals who are capable of delivering sensitive curriculum sessions to adult men and women. The Motivator would only be required to work over the weekend for a period of 2 to 3 months, 2015.
Motivators Responsibilities:
Training: Take part in a week long intensive training course about the project curriculum. The curriculum is structured to bring out sensitive issues related to maternal mortality and family planning within households in urban compounds in Lusaka. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of training.
Lead Community meetings: Lead multiple meetings of around 20 people from within these urban compounds. Engage and educate the community members on curriculum content. The motivator is also expected to effectively facilitate and moderate the meeting.
The motivator is expected to act as an advocate for the people in the compounds and help the MMRAMI team understand the core discussion content from community meetings.
Desired Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in the Social Sciences, Public Health, Education or any related field (either completed or in progress.)
Should have excellent English, Nyanja and Bemba communications skills.
Should be at least 30 years of age.
Should have some experience conducting community meetings, delivering curriculum sessions, teaching or leading large groups of people.
Should demonstrate a good knowledge of social research methods and protocols and a keen interest in the same.
