Site Lead
Main Objective
- The Site lead is responsible for all foundation and commercial corn seed production and conditioning activities conducted in Zambia. This position leads the planning and execution of field and site operations including field production, harvesting, drying, processing and warehousing of produced seed in order too meet the seed availability-, profit- and quality standards required. The position is also responsible for the effective utilization and development of all the people reporting into the site.
Specific Functions
- Promote an actively caring culture for safety amongst all personnel, contractors and visitors
- Act as site lead for the Lusaka site.
- As the responsible person for Site Safety, will lead ESH efforts, provide assistance and arrange for resources to promote safety at the site.
- Responsible for the planning and supervision of field and plant operations, including but not limited to:
- The operational, capital and maintenance budget.
- Harvesting schedule – established in coordination with the field operations team
- Offloading, conditioning, packaging and rebagging operations.
- Warehousing of non-finished and finished goods in the plant responsible warehouses. This include on- and off site warehouses
- Maintain operational and site records as required by the Monsanto quality management systems with the focus on continual improvement.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and management system set by ISO9001
- Responsible for budget control at the site
- Responsible to meet the goals established for seed supply reliability, quality and availability.
- Manage facility personnel to ensure excellence in plant maintenance and housekeeping.
- Establish, assign and review the personnel goals in the field and plant operation teams.
- Identify personnel training needs and annually assess progress of people development, including a succession plan.
- Plan and execute the capital plan for the field and plant operations according to the established long range plan.
- Minimum a bachelor degree in agronomy or similar area of expertise.
- 5 years hands-on experience in people management.

- Fluent in English
- MS Office software (Excel, E-mail, Word, Project etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Results focused with ability to work on own initiative
- Strong teamwork (flexibility to work across the areas and positively influencing others)
- Ability to work with large teams and give clear direction.
Desirable
- More than 5 years operational experience in seed production.
