About Us
Miracle Corners Zambia (MCZ): Founded in 2008, Miracle Corners Zambia is a youth empowerment and community development non-profit organization registered in Zambia.
MCZ Mission: MCZ develops sustainable, youth-led empowerment centers as spaces for education, exchange, and entrepreneurship. These centers offer youth-led educational and athletic programming aimed at empowering and enhancing the lives of program participants.
MCZ is linked and affiliated to Miracle Corners of the World (MCW): Miracle Corners of the World is a non-profit organization that empowers youth to become positive agents of change, to improve their lives and contribute to their communities. Based in New York, MCW serves youth worldwide through youth leadership, oral healthcare, and partner initiatives programs. The MCW youth leadership program empowers youth in a variety of ways, one of which is by developing sustainable, youth-led empowerment centers as spaces for education, exchange, and entrepreneurship. MCW works closely with a global network of friends, volunteers, and supporters from the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Role Description: MCZ Center Coordinator
General. The Center Coordinator is responsible for implementing the vision, mission, strategy and goals of MCZ. S/he directs and monitors MCZ day-to-day running of a vibrant community centre providing diverse services for the community. This includes running operations and program development, develops and implements policies and best-practices for organisational operation, is responsible for spending and receiving organisational funds and maintaining financial records, and monitors data on MCZ programming. The holder of this position will manage and develop the resources and services of MCZ Chanyanya Community Centre in order to best meet the needs of the local community. The Center Coordinator reports to the MCW representative and to the MCZ Board of Directors to ensure that operations meet the Board’s strategic vision.
Responsibilities
Vision and Mission
- Uphold and strengthen the MCW Global Community’s vision, core values, and constitution.
Governance
- Work closely with the MCW representative and the MCZ Board of Directors to implement strategic plans, policies, and goals.
- Help develop the Board by involving them in areas of organsiational and programmatic planning.
Finance
- Collect and maintain records of revenue and expenditures.
- Pay all taxes in accordance with local laws.
- Develop and monitor the annual budget.
- Undertake financial tasks such as petty cash payments, preparing invoices and banking
- Prepare salaries, ensuring that all information is given in on time and with reference to timesheets
- To provide relevant financial and monitoring information to assist the board and MCW in fundraising for the centre and preparing return to relevant bodies
Human Resources
- Recruit staff as needed with the approval of the Executive board
- Manage, mentor, motivate, and encourage team members to set and achieve individual and shared goals; to develop, plan and implement their ideas; and to fulfill their roles.
- Delegate tasks as appropriate
- Conduct annual performance reviews for all staff members.
- Ensure and maintain staff discipline
- Be responsible for keeping up to date information on staff employed by the centre
- To be responsible for overseeing staff leave, holiday and sickness records
Administration, Monitoring and Reporting
- Ensure MCZ’s investments (infrastructure, inventories) are protected.
- Ensure MCZ maintains registration as a non-profit making organisation.
- Handle district/government inquiries.
- Track, record and monitor program and set up databases for participants and beneficiary data.
- Market the organisation to ensure beneficiaries are recruited to programming.
- Submit weekly activity reports to the MCW representative.
- Submit monthly summary and financial reports to the Board of Directors and the MCW representative.
- To promote the work of the centre through a range of medium, e.g posters, leaflets
- Provide administrative support to specific projects at the centre
- To assist in monitoring in the use of services by ensuring different departments and groups maintain registers, recording statistics on relevant databases and collating information for evaluation and monitoring purposes
- To participate in developing systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective delivery of services
Servicing Board Members
- Attend some board meetings and take minutes
- Organize venues for board meetings
Any Other duties as assigned by the MCW representative and the MCZ Board of Directors.
Required Skills and Experience
- An undergraduate degree, preferably related to one of the following areas of study: nonprofit management, international or community development, communications or other relevant field.
- At least two years (in total) of work or internship experience with organization(s) or business(es), preferably with those that are involved in community development either domestically or internationally. This may include several short internships with different organizations
- Must be a Zambian Passport holder.
- English proficiency required and beneficial if candidate also speaks one or more local Zambian languages.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs and other preferred accounting software
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
- Exceptional online and offline communication skills with individuals and groups.
- Self-motivated, strong interpersonal skills, a team-orientated attitude.
- Preferably some experience in applying for and managing grants.
- Comfortable working with a wide range of partners and individuals.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, conduct thorough research, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to problem-solve, find creative solutions, generate new ideas outside the status quo, and learn new skills efficiently
- An engaging and collaborative leadership style with mature interpersonal skills and the ability to juggle and manage multiple, competing priorities and deadlines
- Interest in youth empowerment, education, inter-cultural dialogue, non-profit organizations, social entrepreneurship, socio-economic development in Africa, public-private partnerships, public health or similar areas.
- Able to work in busy demanding environment
- Have effective management skills
- Candidates must be willing to relocate to Chanyanya.
